Financial Transparency
Blue Mountain Humane Society is committed to maintaining sound, responsible financial practices in support of our mission and long-term viability. Our Board of Directors provides active financial oversight, and our financial statements are independently audited or reviewed each year in accordance with best practices for nonprofit governance.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we make our IRS Form 990 filings and our independently audited or reviewed financial statements publicly available. These documents reflect how we steward charitable resources, plan for sustainability, and ensure the organization remains financially healthy while meeting the needs of animals and the community.
Blue Mountain Humane Society is a private, board-governed nonprofit organization. While BMHS is classified as a public charity under IRS rules due to broad community support, it does not have members or shareholders, and governance authority rests solely with its Board of Directors. Public charity status reflects funding sources, not public governance, voting rights, or access to board meetings or internal governance records.
