Help Us Fill Their Bowls!
Our food fund is depleted, and we need your help to keep our animals well-fed and healthy.
Why Monthly Giving Matters
A reliable food supply is essential for the health and happiness of every animal in our care. By becoming a monthly donor, you help ensure that our pets never miss a meal, regardless of unexpected shortages or rising costs. Your ongoing support allows us to plan ahead, purchase food in bulk, and provide consistent, high-quality nutrition for every animal—especially those with special dietary needs. A monthly gift means stability for them and peace of mind for us. Join our community of sustainers today and help keep their bowls full all year long!
What Do Our Experts Say?
“A consistent diet is very important for shelter animals, as it directly impacts their health, behavior, and overall well-being. Just like humans, animals thrive on a balanced and predictable nutrition plan. A stable diet ensures that they receive the right balance of nutrients required for their energy levels, immune system strength, and the maintenance of healthy skin and fur. Also, sudden changes in diet can lead to digestive problems and stress, negatively affecting an animal’s physical and emotional state.”
“By providing a consistent diet, our shelter can significantly improve the quality of life for our animals, making them healthier, happier, and ultimately more adoptable. This approach not only highlights our commitment to the care and respect of these animals but also mirrors the quality of care that potential adopters would want for their future pets.”
Every day, our team carefully prepares meals for the dogs and cats at BMHS, ensuring they receive the right nutrition at the right time. Here’s what goes into feeding our shelter pets:
Twice-Daily Meals – Breakfast at 8:30 AM and dinner at 4:00 PM, tailored to each animal’s weight and dietary needs.
Health-Focused Nutrition – Special diets support animals with medical conditions, stress-related GI issues, or sensitive stomachs. Medications are also given as needed during meal times.
Clean & Enriching Mealtimes – Every meal is served in a freshly washed bowl, with engaging food toppers like wet food, broth, or dental chews to add variety. Fast eaters get puzzle feeders or Kongs to make mealtime fun and stimulating.
For the Picky Eaters – Canned chicken is our go-to trick to encourage hesitant eaters.
Right now, we need urgent support to keep their bowls full. Donate today and help us provide the meals they depend on!
